How to build a strategy without coding
- Pick a market and timeframe — for example Bitcoin on the 4-hour chart.
- Add entry rules. Each rule compares two things: an indicator, a price or a fixed number. “Crosses above” fires only on the bar where the cross happens; “is above” is true on every bar.
- Add exit rules and, if you like, a stop-loss and take-profit in percent.
- Run the backtest and study net profit against buy & hold, the win rate, profit factor and maximum drawdown.
- Export to TradingView as Pine Script to test the same rules on Nifty, stocks, forex or any other symbol.
Reading the results
- Profit factor = gross profit ÷ gross loss. Above 1.5 is good; below 1 loses money.
- Max drawdown is the largest fall from an equity peak — ask yourself whether you could sit through it.
- Win rate alone means little: trend systems often win only 35–45% of trades but make more on winners.
