How to keep a trading journal that improves your results
- Log every trade, including the small and embarrassing ones. Missing trades make statistics useless.
- Always record the stop-loss. It turns profit and loss into R-multiples, which you can compare across symbols and position sizes.
- Tag the setup so you can drop the ones that lose money.
- Be honest about mistakes. The “cost of mistakes” table often shows that one habit — moving stops, revenge trading — wipes out most of the profit.
- Review weekly, and stress-test your numbers with the Monte Carlo simulator.
