A stop-loss is a pre-decided price at which a trader exits a losing position to limit the loss. It is a core part of risk management.
A sensible stop-loss is placed where the trade idea is proven wrong — for example below a support zone — and the position size is then adjusted so the loss at that level stays within the trader's risk limit.
