How the Flat vs Reducing Interest Calculator works
A flat rate charges interest on the full original loan for the whole tenure, even as you repay. A reducing-balance rate charges interest only on what you still owe. A flat rate of 8% is roughly equal to a reducing rate of about 14–15% over three years.
The calculator shows the equivalent reducing rate so you can compare offers fairly.
